In Doren, themed trails, leisure activities and local history go hand in hand. The StandWOrtWeg features perspective games, puzzles and philosophical questions; the Achtalweg follows the former Wälderbahn railway line as a walking and cycling path. Other attractions include a low-ropes course in the forest and the Bozenau nature play area. When planning your visit, it is worth choosing your focus first: a themed circular trail, play and exercise, or a route between several municipalities.

Circular Trails and Leisure Activities

The family-friendly StandWOrtWeg circular trail starts at Doren municipal office and passes through the Sulz and HĂĽttersberg districts. From there, it offers beautiful views of the Bregenzerwald mountains. Perspective games, close observation, puzzles and philosophical questions shape the concept. This way, the circular trail combines exercise with activities that invite visitors to observe and reflect.

The adventure course is a low-ropes course in the forest next to Doren's football pitch. Visitors can reach it via a signposted farm track through the forest. Use is free of charge for climbing- and balancing-enthusiast families with children aged 2 to 10. It is open seasonally; check the latest local information before your visit.

Another leisure attraction is the Bozenau nature play area. It includes a football pitch, a slackline facility and a nature bike track, and provides children, teenagers and families with space to play and enjoy the outdoors. Doren therefore offers a range of options: the adventure course is for climbing and balancing, while Bozenau offers play and exercise across several facilities.

The Achtalweg and the Former Railway Line

The Achtalweg is a walking and cycling path along the former Wälderbahn railway line. It passes through Egg, Lingenau, Langenegg and Doren. The adapted section between Egg and Doren is just under 10 kilometres long. This offers a different way to explore the area from the themed StandWOrtWeg: the focus here is on the former railway line and a route between several municipalities. The path can be explored on foot or by bike, while the StandWOrtWeg is described as a family-friendly circular trail.

Local History and Landscape

Local history also offers some tangible points of interest. Doren's present-day parish church was consecrated in 1823. Austria's first cheese-making school opened in Doren in 1901. This brings together a religious building and the history of cheese-making education. Another link to transport history is the protected Bozenau footbridge: it connects Doren and Alberschwende and historically provided Alberschwende with access to the Wälderbähnle railway.

Doren's landscape includes largely preserved agricultural structures in a natural setting. Doren is also one of the municipalities in the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park. This description of the municipality complements the specific trails and leisure facilities with a broader view of its rural character.

Getting to the Attractions

The Sportplatz stop on line 25 is close to the adventure course. The Doren Egg-Dorf stop on line 820 is the designated stop for the StandWOrtWeg.
