Parry Beach Reserve is located in the locality of Parryville and can be reached via Parry Road. A 2022 Shire background report notes public access there to the Southern Ocean, beaches and Parry Inlet. Access arrangements and reserve conditions may change, so check them before travelling. Parry Beach Campground offers camping close to nature and is suited to a stay centred on the coast and outdoor activities.

Coast and Wildlife

The 2022 Shire background report lists Baudin's cockatoo, Carnaby's cockatoo, quokka and Australian sea lions among the species known in the reserve. The list thus ranges from birds to land and marine mammals.

Walking Trails and Historic Traces

The 2022 Shire background report describes walking and hiking trails between the campground, beach paths, the inlet, William Bay and the Bibbulmun Track. The waypoints reflect different landscapes: beach, inlet and the named destinations William Bay and the Bibbulmun Track. Trail conditions may change; check them before setting out.

Point Hillier Cairn is 1.2 km from Parry Beach along a walking trail. Its scientific and historic significance makes it a specific destination for anyone who would like to include a named heritage site as well as the coastal scenery.

A heritage listing, last updated on 13 November 2024, identifies a wooden boathouse and two other huts as surviving parts of the original settlement at Parry's Beach. The settlement was dismantled at some point in the last decade of the 20th century. While the cairn has scientific and historic significance, the boathouse and huts point to the structural remains of the former settlement.

Activities Between the Inlet, Ocean and Reef

The 2022 Shire background report describes canoeing and kayaking in Parry Inlet and the Southern Ocean at Parry Beach. It distinguishes between reef areas by depth: snorkelling is possible in shallow sections, while diving is possible in deeper water. The same report also mentions recreational fishing from boats and shore all year round; conditions and regulations may change. Check them in advance.

The report describes surfing near the inlet mouth at Parry Beach, at William Bay Beach and in the reef areas to the south as a very popular recreational activity. Surf conditions vary.

The report also describes recreational four-wheel driving as common in the beach area. These trips run from Parry Beach to Parry Inlet and William Bay Beach, provided the inlet bar is closed. Check that this condition is met before setting out. The 2022 report also mentions occasional hang gliding in the rehabilitated former limestone quarry area southwest of Parry Beach Reserve. Access is via the reserve road network.
