Pipers Brook combines winemaking, tastings and Tasmanian produce with truffle hunting as an experience in its own right. When planning your visit, it is worth distinguishing between the types of experiences on offer: some feature self-guided tours, while others pair wine with food. At Delamere Vineyards, guided tours are available on request. This lets you choose the focus that suits your visit.

Discover winemaking at your own pace

At Dalrymple Vineyard, a self-guided tour takes you around the winery. Access is through automatic gates, and the walk includes four audio stations. Pipers Brook Vineyard also offers a self-guided tour, taking you along some of the area’s oldest vines. The two formats have different focuses: at Dalrymple, the audio stations are part of the experience, while at Pipers Brook Vineyard, the old vines are the focus of the walk.

Pipers Brook Vineyard has been part of Tasmania’s wine industry since 1974 and is regarded as a modern pioneer of Tasmanian winemaking. The walk among the vines therefore also connects with the longer history of winemaking in Tasmania. Jansz also contributes to the focus on sparkling wine: Jansz was the first sparkling wine made using the traditional Méthode Champenoise. The Jansz Tasmania vineyard is in the heart of the Pipers River region, known as “Sparkling Tasmania”.

Tastings and Tasmanian produce

At Jansz, visitors can enjoy a glass of Jansz and a Tasmanian cheese plate in the wine room, with a view of a picturesque lake. Nadine’s at Pipers café offers a casual menu featuring Tasmanian produce. Kreglinger Sparkling and Pipers Brook wines grown on the estate can be enjoyed alongside it. The menu may change.

Delamere Vineyards also combines a wine visit with a chance to eat: the tasting room is located within the winery. Seasonal produce for picnics is also available to take away. The offerings differ not only in their wines but also in their setting: at the Jansz wine room, the lake view is part of the described dining experience; at Delamere, seasonal picnic provisions and the tasting room within the winery take centre stage.

Truffle hunting and practical choices

At Pipers Brook Truffles, the truffle hunt takes visitors through the truffière, where they can dig up black truffles. The hunt differs from the wine experiences by inviting visitors to take an active part. It is listed as a seasonal activity from June to September 2025. Check current availability before visiting.

Use the different focuses to guide your choice: self-guided tours around wineries or among old vines, tastings and meals featuring Tasmanian produce, or truffle hunting listed as a seasonal activity. If you would like a guided tour at Delamere, request one and check availability. Also check seasonal picnic offerings and the menu in advance.
