Villa La Angostura is located on Ruta Nacional 40, along the famous Camino de los Siete Lagos and within Nahuel Huapi National Park. The area is characterized by coihue, ñire and lenga forests, as well as lakes and rivers with crystal-clear water. When planning your trip, you can choose how to balance nature, activities on the water and local history: in addition to the lakeshore and outdoor trails, the Museo Histórico Municipal offers a look at local and regional history.

Shorelines and viewpoints

BahĂa Brava has a public beach. A 90-meter-long path connects the entrance to the bathing area with the lifeguard station; there is also a viewing platform. BahĂa Brava provides amphibious chairs for people with disabilities so they can enjoy the lake accompanied by local lifeguards.

Another option is the Mirador Brazo Norte: a dirt path leads there from the park ranger office. The walk is estimated to take about 20 minutes; it climbs for just over a kilometer at a moderate incline. This gives you a choice between spending time at the public beach and taking a trail to a viewpoint.

Kayaking, mountain biking and winter sports

Guided kayak tours are offered on the surrounding lakes. Kayaks can also be rented by the hour or by the day for trips on the lakes. When planning, you can weigh up a guided tour against a rental with a flexible time frame.

There are also a variety of options on land: Villa La Angostura offers mountain bike routes with different difficulty levels. At Cerro Bayo, skiing and snowboarding are offered on slopes for all levels. When choosing between a cycling route and a slope, take into account the different difficulty or skill levels specified for each. If you are planning a winter stay, it is worth checking the current operating status at Cerro Bayo.

Local history at the Museo HistĂłrico Municipal

The Museo Histórico Municipal displays objects from local and regional history. These include items from the town’s founding period, agricultural equipment used by pioneer families, photographs, historical documents and tools. A notable exhibit is a six-meter-long monoxyl canoe from the 18th century: a dugout made from a hollowed-out coihue trunk.

The museum building is also connected to the history of the town. It is housed in a building that formed part of the first Usina, Villa La Angostura’s first power plant. The collection and the building thus offer two different perspectives on local history: the objects on display and the historical context of the building.
