At Salto Yasy, Puerto Bossetti brings together a waterfall, forest and connection to the river: the waterfall is on private property in the town and within a nature reserve surrounded by Selva Paranaense. The area’s native forests at Salto Yasy protect approximately 4,450 meters of the final stretch of Arroyo Yasy, up to its mouth at the Río Paraná. This gives your travel planning a clear focus on nature: the stream, forest and river mouth are at the heart of the experience.

Nature and the Character of Puerto Bossetti

Puerto Bossetti also has a small church and a central square. So the town offers more than its waterside scenery: these two local features are also points of interest if you want to get to know the town itself. Salto Yasy is a particularly distinctive landmark, though it is on private property.

Waterfall Experiences and Trekking

The Yasy Jump experience, which is paired with accommodation, starts at Posada Bemberg harbor. From there, the route travels 13 kilometers upriver to the mouth of Salto Yasy; this is followed by a 500-meter walk through the Misiones jungle to the waterfall. Check availability with the provider before making plans.

Another trekking route to Salto Urugua-I or La Olla includes a visit to Puerto Bossetti before continuing to one of these destinations. This makes it different from Yasy Jump: on this excursion, the town is part of a trekking trip, whereas Yasy Jump centers on the river journey and the walk to the waterfall. Availability for this experience may also change; confirm it with the provider in advance.

Accommodation and Getting There

A chalet called “Brisas del Lago,” offered as “Casa Jazmín,” is located in Puerto Bossetti opposite Lago Urugua-í.

An access road to Puerto Bossetti is located at kilometer 1608.24. Check current road conditions locally before setting out. The paved Ruta Nacional 12 runs through the municipality of Puerto Libertad, which includes the town, and regular overland transport connections are available to Puerto Iguazú and Posadas.

More Experiences in the Iguazú Department

The wider travel destination of the Iguazú Department is home to Parque Nacional Iguazú. It was established in 1934 and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. Its trails vary in length and design: the 1,750-meter Paseo Inferior follows walkways with stairs along the waterfalls of the Río Iguazú. The 1,850-meter Paseo Superior is a one-way loop along stair-free walkways and is accessible to all visitor groups. A 1,100-meter stair-free walkway above the upper riverbed of the Río Iguazú leads to Garganta del Diablo.

For a longer hike, Sendero Macuco offers a different way to visit the park: the round trip covers seven kilometers, and visitors can watch birds and explore the Selva along the way. The Tren Ecológico de la Selva runs from Estación Central to the Cataratas and Garganta stations. On the Paseo Ecológico, meanwhile, visitors can explore the islands in the upper Río Iguazú by rowboat from the Garganta del Diablo station. The Iguazú Department therefore offers walkways, a train ride and a boat trip alongside its hiking trails.
