Puerto Rico: Nature in the City and Cultural History

Parque Chévez in Puerto Rico is a city block of jungle vegetation within the urban area and a place for birdwatching. Nature in an urban setting is the focus there, while other points of interest explore the town’s history.

Capilla San Miguel has a history spanning more than 100 years. Casa Museo Raíces displays a replica of an ancestral home, with furniture, clothing, and kitchen and farming tools. On Costanera Juan Pablo II, an installation commemorates the pioneering era, the natural environment the immigrants encountered, and the hardships of building the town. Also on the waterfront promenade, a hollow tree trunk is mounted on the chassis of an old two-axle ox cart.

Guided walks in Parque Natural Municipal Monte Seguín are also among the nature experiences highlighted in Puerto Rico. On February 5, 2026, residents and visitors were invited to take part in these walks, which focused on experiencing nature and exploring the city’s natural areas. Check in advance whether a walk is scheduled for your visit. A description dated July 11, 2025, says that the tourist train in Puerto Rico runs on weekends and, during school holidays, on some weekdays as well. Check the current schedule when planning your trip.
