In Agrelo, you can shape a stay around wine in different ways: options include architecture set against a mountain landscape, guided tours, tastings, and a multi-course menu with wine pairings. The wineries differ in their format and focus. Séptima combines a visit to the winery and estate with a wine tasting; Ruca Malen offers technical tours and tastings, as well as a multi-course menu; Chandon combines guided group visits with sparkling wine tastings. This lets you choose based on the experience you want, rather than treating all the options as the same kind of wine tasting.
Winery, Landscape, and Architecture
Bodega Séptima is located in the higher-altitude area of Agrelo on Route 7, at kilometer 1061. Its natural stone walls blend harmoniously into the mountain landscape. The winery is surrounded by Finca Emblema, with 150 hectares of planted vineyards. During visitor activities, guests get to know the winery and estate, then taste wines from the Séptima-Codorniu range. The visit therefore focuses not only on wine, but also on the architecture and landscape.
Tours with Different Areas of Focus
At Bodega Ruca Malen, technical tours and tastings are led by sommeliers. Chandon offers guided group tours with sparkling wine tastings. Catena Zapata includes tours and tastings among its offerings; the winery also offers the “Blending Games” experience. Bodega Pulenta Estate is located in Alto Agrelo. Its tours cover the vineyards, winery, and cellar, and conclude with a tasting of selected wines. Reservations are required to access these tours.
Menus and Special Tastings
There are also different formats for food and tastings. Ruca Malen offers a multi-course menu served with a selection of wines. Pulenta Estate offers private tastings, wine and cheese pairings, wine and chocolate pairings, and sensory tastings. If you’re looking for a multi-course meal with wine pairings, Ruca Malen offers this format; at Pulenta, you can choose from different types of wine tasting. Bodega Ruca Malen has been certified organic since 2020. If this feature matters to you, you can consider it alongside the tour and menu formats.
History and Winemaking
Bodega Chandon preserves the history and charm passed down from its French roots. Another historical detail takes us to Mendoza: in 1902, Nicola Catena, the grandfather of Nicolás Catena Zapata, planted his first Malbec vineyard there.
Choose Based on the Type of Visit
To help you choose, consider the format of each offering: Ruca Malen offers technical tours and tastings led by sommeliers, as well as a menu; Chandon combines a group tour with sparkling wine tastings. One of Pulenta Estate’s tours covers the vineyards, winery, and cellar, but reservations are required. At Séptima, you can also take the natural stone architecture and mountain setting into account. This makes it easier to choose based on your preferred focus: a guided tour, food, or the landscape.
