Provincial Route 41 begins in Puerto Valle at its junction with Route 12 and runs for 85 kilometers to its junction with Route 37 near the hamlet of Galarza. This provides specific road points for locating Puerto Valle. The route serves as a guide for trip planning; road conditions may change. So check current conditions before setting out.
Natural surroundings and accommodation
One notable landmark is the 14-hectare park at Puerto Valle Hotel de Esteros, designed by the Carlos Thays landscape architecture firm. Laguna Tabé, also known as Valle, lies on the Puerto Valle estate. Wildlife there includes caimans, pampas deer and capybaras; dozens of bird species can also be observed. The park and lagoon represent different natural settings: a landscaped park and a lagoon on the estate.
The hotel offers guests a guided exploration of Laguna Valle's biodiversity in 4×4 vehicles via exclusive access. This activity is reserved for guests with confirmed reservations. The hotel also offers activities on the Paraná River with bilingual guides, likewise exclusively for hotel guests.
Nature destinations in Ituzaingó Department
The wider regional context explicitly includes Ituzaingó Department. In the city of Ituzaingó, 25 kilometers of fine-sand beaches with clear water stretch along the Paraná River. Ituzaingó also provides access to the Esteros del Iberá, a wetland with rich biodiversity and internationally recognized ecological value. These regional natural attractions are distinct from the offerings in Puerto Valle.
The Municipalidad de Ituzaingó lists Parque Nacional Iberá – Portal Norte Cambyretá among its unforgettable tourist experiences. At the portal, wildlife can also be observed from a vehicle; waterbirds include storks, roseate spoonbills and herons. The department therefore offers a range of natural attractions: the beaches of Ituzaingó, the Iberá wetlands and wildlife viewing at Portal Cambyretá.
Museums and history
Culture and history also offer distinctive points of interest in Ituzaingó Department. The Museo Antropológico de Ituzaingó was founded in 2005 to preserve, exhibit and promote representative elements of earlier cultures. It has six exhibition rooms. The first covers topics including toponymy, zoogeography and phytogeography, precolonial mapping and the Guaraní geographic area; it also displays japepo vessels used to store and preserve food. The second room contains Guaraní lithic materials from excavations in the Yacyretá area of Ituzaingó Department.
The Museo Histórico Gobernador Manuel Ignacio Lagraña focuses on a different subject: it illustrates urban life, development and the institutional history of Ituzaingó up to the installation of the Yacyretá Dam. The two museums thus have clearly different focuses: the Museo Antropológico explores earlier cultures and archaeological finds, while the historical museum centers on the city's history and institutions.
San Juan Bautista in June
The annual celebrations in honor of San Juan Bautista begin on June 15 with the Rezo de la Aurora and the novena. On June 24, a procession through the streets carrying the image of the saint is followed by a Mass attended by the bishop. A handicrafts and trade fair is also held in the San Juan Bautista multipurpose area as part of the patron saint festivities. Local and regional artisans and entrepreneurs offer their products there, alongside food and drink and children's and traditional games.
