Chaco cannot be reduced to a single type of landscape: its protected areas represent distinct ecological focuses. Parque Nacional Chaco preserves more than 14,900 hectares of the Chaco Húmedo ecoregion. Parque Nacional Laguna El Palmar also protects areas of the Chaco Húmedo and Delta e Islas del Paraná ecoregions. Covering 5,600 hectares, it encompasses wetlands of international importance. Parque Provincial Loro Hablador offers a different point of reference: this 30,750-hectare protected area is located in the Chaco seco ecoregion. When choosing nature destinations, visitors can therefore distinguish between explicitly identified wetland and dry-region themes.
Another connection between nature and culture can be found in the Campo del Cielo area. The Pigüen N’onaxá Nature and Cultural Reserve is associated with the “Chaco” and “Gancedo” meteorites, which are among the largest meteorites in the world. This makes the site a distinctive destination for travelers interested in geology and culturally significant natural places.
Crafts and Wichí culture
In Miraflores, in the El Impenetrable area, the Asociación N’TETAXANAQUI holds public basket-weaving workshops in its exhibition and sales hall. The association has also developed a forest trail for collecting palm leaves, which are then used in the workshop. This creates a direct connection between the collected material and the basket weaving.
The Asociación Chitsaj–Tokojchey offers another perspective on crafts. Its facilities are located in Paraje Nueva Población and Misión Nueva Pompeya. Visitors can learn about natural dyeing and traditional craft-making techniques alongside Wichí women artisans. For specific workshop details and hands-on opportunities, it is best to inquire locally.

The Museo del Hombre Chaqueño “Profesor Ertivio Acosta” offers a different way to explore cultural history: it preserves tangible and intangible heritage relating to the history and culture of Chaco, shaped by contributions from the Indigenous peoples Qom, Moqoit, and Wichí, as well as Criollos and immigrants.
Casa de las Culturas in Resistencia is a cultural and exhibition center. It is also home to literature, theater, and dance, as well as the Symphony Orchestra and contemporary ballet of Chaco Province; the cultural program may change.
