La Puntilla lies almost at the beginning of the Ruta del Adobe. A manor house and the Casa Grande are among the route’s stops here; centuries-old fincas along Ruta 60 provide further impressions of the town. Two specific themes therefore stand out when planning your trip: adobe buildings and wine culture.
La Puntilla on the Ruta del Adobe
In the wider region, the Ruta del Adobe is a 50-kilometre journey through villages that have preserved their original architecture. Along the way, you can see adobe buildings made by hand from mud, straw and dung. The route runs through the Tinogasta Department in Catamarca Province along Ruta Nacional 60. La Puntilla lies almost at its beginning.
Notable stops include La Sala, a tourist attraction with an adobe-brick façade and a door several centuries old. Finca La Sala is also one of the buildings along the southern stretch of the Ruta del Adobe. These two references offer different ways to find your bearings: La Sala refers to a specific named destination, while Finca La Sala identifies a building along the route’s southern stretch.
The landscape also has its own distinctive features. Pico de la Paloma is a striking rock formation reached before leaving La Puntilla. A route report published in 2021 mentions the rock formations El Sapo and La Serpiente after Bodega RodrĂguez Ferrero. The route therefore combines historic buildings with striking rock formations, though these represent different experiences.
Wine in La Puntilla
The boutique winery Finca Bodega RodrĂguez Ferrero has its own vineyards. In 2018, the winery began offering wine tourism activities, including educational sessions, guided tours and tastings. Guided tours must be arranged in advance; check the latest information on booking before planning your visit.
The listed wines include Syrah Varietal 2020 and Syrah Reserva 2019, both of which have received international awards. Malbec 2022, a Malbec-Syrah blend from 2022 and Torrontés wines are also mentioned. The vintages and grape varieties give a specific impression of the selection; since individual wines may not always be available, ask about the current selection in advance.
Where to stay and how to explore the area
Hotel Hacienda Casa Blanca is in La Puntilla on Ruta Nacional 60, five kilometres from Tinogasta. Guests can go for walks, horseback rides and treks on the 70-hectare property. These activities are intended for hotel guests. The property therefore offers a different focus from visiting the adobe buildings and winery in town.
A description published in 2021 reported a half-day trip on the Bus TurĂstico from Tinogasta’s main square south to La Puntilla. This is a historical reference to a possible connection between the main town and the destination, not a statement about current service. Check before your trip whether such a journey is currently available.
