In Laprida, Salamone’s architecture and the landscape around Complejo El Paraíso showcase different sides of the destination. A museum inside a water tower and events focused on circus and environmental themes also offer distinctive cultural highlights.
Salamone’s Architecture in Laprida
The Palacio Municipal was inaugurated in 1939. Its façade is axially symmetrical, with a large clock tower and vertical concrete elements on the side wings defining its appearance. The town hall is a cultural heritage site of the municipality and the Province of Buenos Aires, as well as a national historic monument.
Francisco Salamone’s legacy in Partido de Laprida also includes the main square, the slaughterhouse, the cemetery entrance, the municipal works yard, and the delegation in San Jorge. These works have been declared district cultural heritage. The entrance to Laprida Cemetery displays a different architectural form: the stepped structure is 32 meters high and is considered a masterpiece by Salamone, part of his series of cemeteries and slaughterhouses.
The Antiguo Matadero de Laprida is also one of Salamone’s buildings. It was part of a public works program planned around 1937, which included the square, town hall, cemetery, slaughterhouse, and municipal works yard. The circular slaughter hall, offset tower with Art Deco styling, and semicircular vestibule give the building its own architectural vocabulary. Comparing it with the symmetrical town hall façade and the stepped cemetery entrance brings the architectural diversity of these works into focus.
The Centro de Interpretación de la Obra de Salamone has been operating since 2013 and provides information for a tourist route through Salamone’s legacy in Laprida. The route “Laprida Corazón de la Obra de Salamone” is part of the Ruta Salamone Bonaerense.
Museum Visits and Lakeside Scenery
The Museo del Agua was established inside the water tower in 2019. Interactive learning areas also make the building a place for sharing knowledge. The guided tour goes up to the tower’s top floor. Another perspective can be found at Complejo El Paraíso, three kilometers from the city center, next to Laguna El Paraíso. A dense eucalyptus grove defines the landscape. Facilities at the complex, located in Partido de Laprida, include swimming pools, a camping area, fire pits, an amphitheater, sports courts, and play areas for children. Facilities may change, and seasonal operations can vary; check current details before your visit.
Circus and Environmental Events
The Festival Nacional de Circo Callejero features circus groups from Argentina performing acrobatics, aerial silks, trapeze, comedy, and other circus acts. An April 2026 report describes free open-air performances in public spaces in Laprida. By its 15th edition, more than 100 groups had performed at the festival. If you are planning a visit, it is a good idea to check the event dates.
At the sixth Fiesta Provincial del Reciclaje, school and kindergarten groups, accompanied by their teachers, visited an exhibition with stands from various institutions on a Friday morning and afternoon. A report dated July 1, 2026, describes this edition. On both event days, residents could exchange used denim, gabardine, and bag items for seedlings from the municipal nursery. This specific program combines an exhibition with an exchange initiative, complementing the architecture and landscape themes with an environmental focus.
