Culture and landscapes give your trip to Coronel Pringles different points of focus. In Coronel Pringles, you’ll find a nationally recognized heritage ensemble, museums and a work of monumental art. Nature highlights include an educational trail along the Arroyo Pillahuincó, the Balneario Municipal and a hike through the rolling terrain of Paraje Fra-Pal. Indio Rico, with its own cultural sites, is also part of the Partido de Coronel Pringles. This lets you choose excursions based on your interest in local history, art, fossils or landscapes.
Heritage, Museums and Art
Plaza Juan Pascual Pringles and the Palacio Municipal together form a national historical and artistic heritage ensemble. If you’re interested in local history and architecture, you can consider both sites as part of the same heritage ensemble: the designation covers both the plaza and the town hall.
The Museo de la Ciudad preserves and displays a significant paleontological heritage. A municipal description dated May 20, 2025, notes that this includes fossils unique to the region. The museum is also intended to represent the history and identity of the town. It thus brings together two distinct themes: evidence of natural history and the story of the town.
The Museo de Artes is located in the Casa de Cultura, at Cabrera 455. Its permanent exhibition features works by Juan Del Prete, Vicente Forte, Raquel Forner, Juan José Cambre and José Triano. Unlike the paleontological focus of the Museo de la Ciudad, this museum focuses on visual art. The two museums therefore offer different points of interest for a cultural visit.
Another form of art can be found in the Cruz del Cementerio de Coronel Pringles. It is considered an example of monumental art and is distinguished by anthropomorphic, or human-like, figures, broken and faceted lines, and an expressionist visual language. These features make the work a distinct attraction alongside the museum collections and heritage ensemble.
Landscapes and Trails
The Balneario Municipal is set on an eight-hectare site surrounded by vegetation, beside an arm of the Arroyo Pillahuincó. The grounds include an artificial lake and two semi-Olympic swimming pools. If you’re planning a visit, check the current status of the facilities beforehand, as they may change.
The Sendas del PillahuincĂł is a 1.5-kilometer educational trail along the banks of the Arroyo PillahuincĂł. The route is described as a path alongside the watercourse. This gives it a different focus from the Balneario Municipal: the Sendas centers on the educational trail along the banks, while the Balneario features extensive grounds with a lake and pools.
Another landscape can be discovered on the hike through Paraje Fra-Pal. It passes through rolling terrain with preserved mountain grassland, follows the Arroyo El Tigre and leads to a mallĂn formed by natural springs—a wetland home to numerous birds and wild animal species. When choosing among these nature experiences, you can consider the Sendas riverside route, the Balneario grounds and the hike to the mallĂn as distinct options.
Indio Rico and Its Cultural Sites
Indio Rico is known as a “Pueblo TurĂstico” and is located in the Partido de Coronel Pringles. The Casita de las Artesanas is there, where a group of women showcases locally made products. Participation and visiting arrangements may change, so confirm the details in advance if you’re planning a visit.
The church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Indio Rico has a tower from which photographs of the surrounding area can be taken. Before your trip, check whether visitors are allowed access before planning to use the tower for this purpose.
